Did you know that, when you purchase the Shadi Original designer hand bag or the Medium Black Quilted Babette Envelope, roughly $5 of the cost is yours to donate where you see fit?
This is possible because of our partnership with the Geneva, Switzerland-based organization Act in Kind. Artillerie recently teamed up with Act in Kind so that we can distribute funds from Artillerie purchases to various non-profit projects in places around the world.
What’s so great and unique about the Act in Kind partnership is that it empowers consumers to have the say in where their money goes. While many companies engage in philanthropy, at the retail level consumers have little knowledge of or control over what their purchases wind up supporting. Since consumers are the ones spending the money, Act in Kind’s founders wondered, why not let them decide where to direct the funds?
Look for the Act in Kind label and code from your purchase of the designated bag and then go to www.actinkind.com to choose a specific project to help with. You’ll find worthwhile charities ranging from those dealing with basic rights and education issues to the environment and economic development around the world. And Act in Kind ensures that 100% of your donation goes to those in need (rather than some of it going to administrative costs and such).
Act in Kind’s website has great ideas for concerned companies and consumers alike. Go ahead and check it out. As Act in Kind’s Emily Sahakian explains, “Many people want to help and don’t know how. Through social empowerment at the retail level, we hope to give individuals the tools they need to bring about scalable humanitarian, social and environmental change.
“While we can’t stop consumption, we can consume more consciously. We also always keep imagining, ‘What if every brand shared just a little with those who need it most?’ Imagine the change we could propagate.”
